KORN, EVANESCENCE Backing Musicians Vow To Carry On With DARK NEW DAY
May 19, 2007DARK NEW DAY guitarist Clint Lowery (ex-SEVENDUST),who is currently playing with KORN as a backing musician, has shot down rumors that DARK NEW DAY is on the verge of splitting up following this past week's announcement that the group's drummer Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) and guitarist Troy McLawhorn (ex-DOUBLE DRIVE) were joining EVANESCENCE.
Said Lowery: "As you may have heard Will and Troy are going out with EVANESCENCE. And you've heard I'm going out with KORN this year. I'm here to say DARK NEW DAY will live on. We recorded some great material recently with Dave Bendeth and I just met with my A&R guy at our label. All of us are gonna be off in September after Family Values and we will record our record then. The great thing is I'll be out there with Troy and Will and we can continue writing with them for the new record.
"It's been a hard year for us as being out of the scene so long. But I promise all of you we will make a slamming record and it should be out in March of next year. It's a great opprtunity for Troy, Will and myself to be out there playing and taking care of our families. Music is all we know and sitting home until September would be hard. Brett [Hestla; DARK NEW DAY vocalist, ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT] is busy producing and Corey's [Lowery; DARK NEW DAY bassist, ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO] writing songs and producing a lot of bands. We have to survive and I was really sad but excited to have to be the only one leaving to tour with KORN but now it's gonna be better 'cuz we can be on the road together and write and Brett and Corey will be writing so we can keep trying to top what I already feel is a strong record. Y'all been so patient and supportive but we will make this record. I'm just glad we'll all be off at the same time.
"WE LOVE YOU AND we'll post songs that we've demoed to give you new music. 'Fist from the Sky' was just a demo we did. We'll try to put at least five on there over the next few weeks.
"Again we are alive and well."
Lowery is the second replacement for original KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, who left the band two years ago to devote his life to Christianity.
Lowery made his debut with KORN on March 1, 2007 when the band made its first appearance ever on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno".
DARK NEW DAY released its debut album, "Twelve Year Silence", in June of 2005. The disc featured the single "Brother".
